These tracks are the score for Season 1 of Big O, a mech anime with a philosophical film noir style plot. Based on that description of the show, it makes sense that the soundtrack has its tense battle themes as well as its moodier, more downtempo tracks. The opening theme "Big O!" (inspired by Queen's Flash Gordon Theme) embodies both sides of the soundtrack's musical spectrum at once.
