If anyone remembers Ras Kass's Soul On Ice (Underground West Coast classic!), this is the demo tape that preceded it. Since it's a cassette rip the quality will sound really dated, but i happen to love the vintage sound. Lyrically this is Ras Kass in his prime without the need to be as conceptual as the actual Soul On Ice album that would soon follow after the tape.

Whats up MS fam...!


Halftime: looks like the diversity in music will continue to grow, with mec added to the team. hope you guys are still checkin' out MS weekly, still enjoying the albums we are suggesting, and even thought alot of the music on our site is hard to find, please continue to support the artist by purchasing their merchandise. Any suggest and or request drop a line in the c-box. Good to see some of you are using the rating systems, feedback gives us better a better idea of what genres/albums/artists to post... On another note, i will start up the halftime mixes this week, and you can find those, on our forum. Big thanks to all those who have joined up, and contributed to the MS community, lets kept it active! Hope you guys had a good yet productive summer. (pic from end of summer in el salvador)(note: 211th post in just under 4 month, about 2.3 albums per day, dont sweet the technique)


Heaps: decided to add my two cents to this post, instead of making another one. Tomorrow college life starts for me so it's the end of a great summer. I want to thank EVERYONE who's part of the community. the forum is great, good to see people comment and use the rating system (like Halftime said, easier for us to reflect on people's thoughts) and after 1.5 year the blog is still up and running!
It's the end of the summer, but that doesn't mean MS will die now. We will keep providing you with good music. Somewhere in september we will also release the daily updated The Find Magazine,which gonna be great, trust me. So the movement will go on, join it! Thanks everyone and keep up the good work,

Tommy Guerrero is amazing , One of my favorite artists who will never get enough props. Once a progressive skater back in the day, but of recent he focuses more on the arts. Doubt you will find any working links for his solo albums, constantly removing his own links. He's got some releases on Mowax & P-vine & Quannum. This album, with the addition of dj gadget really creates a new sound. All his material is funky fresh and you gotta buy something of his NOW!!!T.G. isnt the best guitarist, nor producer, but you can throw any of his tracks and just chill and think about life. On another note, I know this is alot of music to get through but, I hope you guys are diggin the posts, been here a week and got some good feedback, take your time...

This is an old promotional (meaning free) Black Star mixtape that seems to have disappeared from the internet. As far as I know, hardly anyone has it. I couldn't even find a preview link for any of the mixtape's exclusive tracks (the preview is Shinjiro, originally from DJ Krush's MiLight.). Luckily i had the mixtape myself. None of it's material is really new, even for its time, but it's still worth it for the exclusive remixes, freestyles, and Def Jam Poetry excerpts.

The thing that makes Reflective Frequencies great is that the beats are mechanical and electronic, but at the same time organic and living. Each track starts slow but as they're playing they start changing and growing. Reflective Frequencies literally lets you listen to the evolution of a beat. In it's entirety the experience is very ethereal and relaxing.

Re:Generations basically takes a bunch of classic Nat King Cole tracks and remixes them with some prominent Hip-Hop/Reggae acts of today. For those used to Nat King Cole songs, it'll either be really refreshing or a bit strange at first to hear Re:Generations with new beats and performers on them. Still, MS loves Jazz and Hip-Hop and this is a good marriage of the two.

This is probably the ONLY Nujabes release MS hasn't gotten around to posting, so i've decided to do it myself. This mixtape is different from anything else Nujabes has done because there is no Hip-Hop incorporated into this at all (other than the unofficial Bonus Track included). Instead he uses jazz, soul, blues, and R&B songs from the 70's and 80's. Still, Nujabes fans should already know that he's a sampling/crate digging genius and Sweet Sticky Thing only adds to that statement.
