Happy Birthday, MS!

It all started with these posts and the concept to start a blog posting Hip Hop vs. Indie rock. That didn't really work out well and slowly transformed into a 'jazz hop blog' so to speak. An eclectic mixture of good music. Time flies, because today we can celebrate our Three Year Anniversary!!

I won't make this into an Oscar speech, but thanks to everyone who's involved throughout the years. Authors, visitors, fans, listeners, supporters, artists - it's great to have such a strong MS community! 3.6 million visits and 2.3 million unique visitors within three years is epic if you ask me.

And guess what? To celebrate our anniversary, we didn't do shit. Haha. After the random Jazzy Goats, MS-related compilations and Heaps Of Old School, I decided to make another compilation. A little more conceptual this time.

The past few months I had an internship in Amsterdam and somehow always when I wake up early, a song is stuck in my head. I don't listen to music consciously before I go to sleep or so, but there's an explanation for it. 'Earworms'.

After a variety of songs stuck in my head while waking up/travelling, I decided to write down the song if I had one stuck in my head in the morning. After basically two weeks, that results in this shortlist of 15 songs!

Most of them got stuck in my head because of one sentence that was on repeat in my head ('it can be a problem', 'drop your gloves OJ', What's your name? JD//What's the name of your crew? It's SV), others just because they are catchy and others because they are great songs in general. And one exception (the last one) because it's fucking annoying...

With that said, hopefully you enjoy this playlist of my unsubconscious mind. Let me know what you think!

Musical Schizophrenia forum is back!

That's right, the MS forum is back! We had one in 2009 but unfortunately that got shut down. Since then we used the Cbox on the blog, but that was way too small for the community. People requested a new forum, so the MS crew decided to provide you with it. It's a new active place to share releases, discuss music, chill out and have a good time.

Not to brag, but I think our community is a big plus for this blog. No random download posts without descriptions leeched by anonymous visitors, but instead MS is also a community of music fanatics, talented artists and good people. That results in various music projects, a lot of music sharing and now this new forum. Before announcing the forum just now, there are already more than fifty members on there posting and sharing - I think that's proof of how MS can be considered as a music community as well.

The forum contains a lot of downloads that can't be found on this blog (but same style, same artists), so it's an extended goldmine. Besides that there are discussions about music and overall it's a chill place to hang out if you're bored. So join now and be part of the family!

Post #2.000 (Update)

Woop, I just noticed this is the 2.000th post on MS! That's pretty sick, because it's a miracle that we never got shut down - even after 2.000 posts!

2.000 posts, 2.6 million visits, three years up and running, lots of writers throughout the years, a side-blog, a magazine, a site, Twittah, Facebook... We're still trying to provide you with the best in music day by day!

As you know I'm gonna distance myself from MS after the holidays, but that doesn't mean the end. I received a lot of offers by people who wanna contribute posts to the blog (thanks everyone! Will reply to you later on), so let's hope in a few years you can read a similiar post as this, about the 4.000th album ;)

Wanted: New MS writers

Do you want to share your music with like-minded people? Always wanted to write for a blog? Then this is you chance, because we're looking for people who wanna be part of the MS team!

Let's put it out here in the open: after the summer holidays I'll stop writing for MS. It's the last year of my study, so that means I don't have enough spare time. Besides that I want to focus on a lot of other things, so after three years of sharing good music with you I decided to call it a wrap.

Because it'd be a shame to shut down MS forever (right?), I hope we can welcome a few new writers (3-5) who continue with this blog. I think it's also a plus to have new people on board who can be a breath of fresh air to MS. The contributions throughout the years were/are amazing, so I'm sure there are a lot of people reading this who would be a great addition to the blog.

To celebrate the fact we reached the magic number of two million visits (within 20 months), we have this great compilation for you!

Something I made when I was bored. A collection of jazzy remixes of tracks by rappers who lots of people define as 'G.O.A.T' (yeah, that explains the title of this compilation ;) ).
Lots of people are sleeping on skilled jazzy producers so I decided to make this, so people can get familiar with those great producers while listening to tracks of their favourite rapper.
