Neil's Original and Sweet CDs have been some of our most consistent selling mixtapes in the last few years, always coming with well thought out concepts, flawless blending and the general sense of "fun" that any good mixtape should possess. The idea behind the Original series was to take hip hop favorites and blend them with the original cuts that they sampled. Nothing revolutionary there, but Neil was so busy on the mixing and production end that they easily rose above contemporaries. Plus the sound was a straight party vibe that didn't have anything to do with rarity of said originals. And with success comes the complaints- people moaning that he had 4 tracked the whole thing was a big one. So here he's released a 2 disc set of him doing the "originals" thing live. No second takes, no erases, no multi tracking, just one and a half hours of blends and party rocking in one take. Pretty impressive. -turntable lab
